A cat named Winne has become an unlikely star of the 2024 Paris Olympics after 'helping' Jordan Chiles win gold.

Winnie from Chicago has been enjoying watching the gymnastics, in particular Jordan Chiles, on the uneven bars.

Gymnast fan

During Jordan's routine, the adorable feline becomes a virtual cheerleader for the gymnast.

Winnie was filmed by her owner watching intently as Jordan completed her routine, even 'spotting' her, especially during the high-flying moments.

The cat's enthusiastic attempts to catch Chiles as she reached the peak of her flips had viewers in stitches.

Gold medal winners

The clip shared on Instagram shows Winnie in front of the TV, jumping up and swatting the screen with her paws as the gymnast swings on the bars. After Winnie's owner revealed her cat's self-appointed role in the Olympics, one Instagram user voiced concern, saying:

"This could have been dangerous! Winnie might have distracted Chiles and cost us the gold!"

Despite concerns, Winnie's enthusiastic, if unintentional, assistance didn't hurt Chiles' performance. Chiles and Team USA secured a gold medal, marking Chiles' first Olympic victory. Thrilled by the win, Winnie continued to support Chiles, revelling in her role as the "#1 fluffy fan."

While Winnie's support from the sidelines may not have directly influenced the outcome, it added a lovely touch to Chiles' historic win.
