What should have been just a regular day turned into a desperate mission when the couple saw an abandoned Greyhound in a dreadful state on the road.
Abandoned greyhound
The distressed pup, later named Agatha, who was severely dehydrated and underweight, was spotted in the middle of the road. However, despite countless people passing by, no one stopped to help.
Fortunately, the couple didn't think twice about getting out of their car and stopping traffic to rescue Agatha. They guided the dog back to their car, which is pretty impressive, considering greyhounds are easy to catch.
They rushed her to a veterinarian, where it found that she didn't have a microchip. The police were then alerted and contacted the Amores Peludos association for further assistance.
Hope for Agatha
At the vets, Agatha was diagnosed with several serious conditions, including leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease. The examination also revealed signs of a troubled past, including a recent abortion.
Despite her rough history, Agatha's future is now looking brighter. The animal shelter has taken her in and is giving her all the care and affection she needs.
Efforts are underway to find a loving home for Agatha, giving her a chance to start anew and leave her painful past behind. The couple's quick actions and the support from local authorities and animal advocates have given Agatha renewed hope for a better life.
Good luck, Agatha!
