The shocking case of animal cruelty in Western Australia has left dog owners reeling.
Shocking footage
The video, recorded at a grooming salon, shows the groomer hitting the dog multiple times, lifting him by his ears, and tossing him into a cage.
Upon picking up her pet, Luffy's owner was horrified, finding him visibly distressed and injured. The Maltese-Shih Tzu mix was trembling, and he had bleeding around his eye. A veterinarian later confirmed the injuries.
The groomer has been charged under the Animal Cruelty Act, fined $2,500, and ordered to pay $5,000 in court costs. She has also been dismissed from her position at the grooming business where the abuse occurred.
Breach of trust
The RSPCA Western Australia has denounced the incident as a severe breach of trust, emphasising that pet owners rely on groomers to handle their animals with care and professionalism. The organisation urges all pet owners to stay vigilant and report suspicious behaviour to prevent similar incidents.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing as authorities seek to ensure justice and prevent further cases of animal cruelty.
