Shelter staff discovered the open cat carrier on a secluded path not far from their facility.
Shocking discovery
Inside was a terrified ginger kitten crouching at the bottom of the carrier. Despite its trauma, the kitten desperately wanted human affection and was quickly secured to prevent escape.
However, the staff didn't think that this kitten had been alone. As the carrier had been left open, it was likely that there had been more kittens who had got out and run off.
The shelter shared the incident on Facebook, condemning the act as "cowardice in all its splendour." They also shared their fears that other kittens might have been in the carrier and are now lost in the wild. How could someone just abandon these kittens in this way instead of taking them to the nearest shelter?

Neutering cats
Like in the UK, shelters and animal associations in France and worldwide receive an overwhelming number of abandoned kittens each year. This is why neutering cats is so important to prevent the increase in unwanted felines and abandonments like this.
Sadly, no additional kittens were found despite the staff's best efforts. However, at least the ginger kitten is safe and has the best chance of finding a loving home.
