Amber had been seen roaming for some time, and she clearly needed help.
The poor pup was terrified, leaving her rescuers no choice but to gain her trust enough to be brought to safety.
An urgent case
As soon as she was brought into the Burford rescue centre, the vet team got to work treating Amber.
She was suffering from sarcoptic mange, which had left her with sore, red skin. She was also very thin, and heavily pregnant.
After only a few days in the care of Blue Cross Rehoming Centre Burford, Amber went into labour. But with her body so worn out by life as a stray, the puppies' heart rates quickly started to drop.
An emergency C-section was in order, and soon after the team welcomed the arrival of 8 adorable puppies, named Theodore, Cider, Dougal, Kasper, Winnie, Holly, Sasha and Bailey.
Precious help
Amber was still traumatised and weak in the weeks following her ordeal, and it was clear she wouldn't be able to raise her puppies alone.
This lead to the Blue Cross team stepping in, to help bottle feed her babies. This meant feeding them every 3 hours day and night, with 30 people offering their time to support the little family.
They blossomed in no time, and were all lucky enough to find wonderful new homes just in time for Christmas!
Amber now lives with the Griffith family, along with her furry brother Crumble.
