Cheryl Heineken, the executive director of the Humane Society of Wichita County, posted a humorous yet candid description of Eddie, dubbing him a "jerk" who weighs 17 pounds and fears no one, especially other dogs.
Brutally honest
The shelter's Facebook post, complete with a poop emoji, appealed to potential adopters, challenging them to prove they were "man enough" to take Eddie home. Surprisingly, the tactic worked, and Eddie was adopted within hours of the post going live.
Eddie, originally a stray who arrived at the shelter in late October, faced challenges due to his black coat colour and aversion to other dogs. However, Linda Brooks and her daughter, Taryn, were undeterred.
Happy ending
Linda drove from Cleburne, Texas, to bring Eddie into their family, fulfilling Taryn's wish for a unique Christmas gift. Despite Eddie's initial escapades and a few escapes, the Brooks family embraces their mischievous new addition. They've even started social media accounts for Eddie, planning to leverage their following to support the Humane Society of Wichita County.
Eddie's playful antics and newfound snuggly side bring joy to his new family, proving that honesty, humour, and mischief can lead to a perfect match in pet adoption.
