When rescue organisation La Patte Normande were called in to help a stray, it was clear to them he needed urgent help.
He was in a sorry state. His poor little ears had been damaged by his time on the street, and his coat seemed to be a dirty, scruffy mixture of ginger and tabby.
It was impossible for shelter staff to tell what colour he actually was!
After many weeks with the love and care of a foster home, the cat's real coat gradually came through.
And what a shock it was when his true appearance was revealed!
Pilou's true colours
After 6 months of treatment, Pilou finally revealed his true colours.
A mixture of white and grey, the feline's coat couldn't have been further from the ginger it first appeared.
Today Pilou is unrecognisable, but he's been waiting for his family for 2 long years.
Poor Pilou learned to be wary of people to survive on the street, and this has made it more difficult for him to find a home. His years as a stray have left him with FIV, and nobody at the rescue have been able to work out his age.
His foster family have done a wonderful job teaching him to enjoy gentle affection, and with lots of patience and understanding, he's sure to make a wonderful addition to the right home.
