Shared by her devoted owner, Brittany Huyser, the clips highlight Dixie's zest for life as she bounds around on her front paws, refusing to be hindered by her lack of rear legs.
Losing back legs
After being born with paralysed back legs, Dixie eventually found herself at an animal shelter, where Brittany eventually adopted her. But her journey took another surprising turn when her vet amputated her back legs due to an incurable bone infection.
But rather than giving up on Dixie, Brittany made the courageous choice to help her canine companion continue living to the fullest.
In one heartwarming video, Dixie joyfully takes an early morning stroll along an empty street, basking in the warm sunlight. Despite the availability of a wheelchair, Dixie prefers to move about on her own.
Living life to the fullest
At five years old, Dixie's unbreakable spirit shines through. Her infectious smile and lolling tongue has earned her over 115k followers on Instagram and 34k followers on TikTok. She perfectly embodies the loyalty and gentle nature of the mastiff breed.
Meet the brave and determined Dixie:
Dixie's condition, canine paralysis, is typically linked to spinal cord or brain issues disrupting the nervous system's communication. In her case, it was congenital, rendering her incontinent and necessitating the use of a nappy.
She may only have two legs, but her determination to live her best life and her incredible bond with her owner ensures her disability will never hold her back.
