After searching the area with no sign of a kitten, it occurred to the lady that perhaps the noise was actually coming from the rubbish bin. Peering over the edge, she was shocked at what she found when she looked inside.
A cruel act
As if it wasn't enough to abandon such a defenseless creature, the little tortoiseshell kitten had been left in a plastic bag. Fortunately, the lady had arrived just in time, and was able to intervene before the kitten suffocated.
The police were called immediately, and with the kitten safely with a vet, they began investigating the area. They were determined to find the person responsible.
Justice is served
It didn't take long to track down the perpetrator, who was identified as a 77-year-old man from the Kolbuszow district in Poland. Thanks to the quick actions of the police, he didn't get away as easily as expected.
Claiming he didn't know what to do with the kitten when it arrived on his property is no defence, and the man now faces charges for animal cruelty. While this rarely leads to a prison sentence in Poland, he is likely to receive a significant fine.
In the meantime, the kitten is now in good hands and will have a second chance at happiness in a loving home.
