When a homeless cat was with kittens, they immediately assumed it was a mother cat caring for her litter. But they soon discover they've made a big mistake.

Sara Sharp, founder of a cat shelter in South Jersey, received a distress call about a mother with five four-week-old kittens who urgently needed help.

The feline family had been found by a building manager who had initially presumed that the kittens were in the care of their mother.

Surprise discovery

However, to everyone's surprise, when Sara and her team arrived to examine the cats, she soon realised that the mother cat was actually a non-neutered male.

The male cat, affectionally named Mr. Mom, was quite nervous of the strangers but seemed relieved to be rescued. For a male cat, he was remarkably kind to the kittens, providing them with warmth and comfort. However, he seemed more than ready to relinquish his babysitting duties. Despite their best efforts, the rescue team could not find the kittens' mother, and she never returned to the building.

Happy ending

The kittens were fostered to ensure they got the care and socialisation they needed before finding their forever homes.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mom, now free from his responsibilities, begins to relax and adapt to life in the rescue. After a few days, he started warming up to the humans looking after him and discovered his love for strokes, face rubs, and back rubs. He relished the attention and eagerly accepted treats.

How Mr Mom ended up with the kittens remains a mystery. But what is certain is that he will never have to endure the hardships of outdoor life again, as he has finally found a forever home filled with love and care. A family initially offered to foster him, but it didn't take long for them to fall in love with his charming personality.
