A grieving dog owner looking through photos from the day she scattered her dog's ashes stumbles upon something in the pictures that takes her breath away.

Ashley Lang from Chicago has shared a remarkable story that highlights the bond humans share with their beloved pets, even after they've passed away.

Loyal canine companion

Ashley's cherished canine companion, a beautiful Golden Retriever called Wagner, passed away recently at the age of 12. Wagner's death left a huge void in Ashley's life, but what transpired when Ashley said her final goodbyes to Wagner gave her huge comfort.

After Wagner died, Ashley decided to have him cremated and went to his favourite park to scatter his ashes, and one of Ashley's friends took some photos.

Angel dog

As Ashley later perused her collection of treasured photographs, she stumbled upon an image of the moment she scattered Wagner's ashes into the air. Captured in the photo was the distinct silhouette of a dog.

Convinced it's her beloved canine companion's final goodbye, Ashley said:

"It's pretty remarkable... the tail and the legs and he looks like he's, you know, leaping to go up. Everyone keeps calling him the angel dog."
