At just four months old, Tuna, a Dachshund and Chihuahua mix, was found abandoned on the side of the road. He was taken to a local shelter, where he eventually met Courtney Dasher, who had just moved to the area.
When Tuna met Courtney
Courtney had come to the shelter hoping to adopt a dog, and when she spotted nervous little Tuna, she knew he was the one for her. While some people thought Tuna was the ugliest dog they'd ever seen, Courtney felt very differently about the pup. She was in love and determined to adopt him.
Meeting Courtney changed the dog's life. Not only did he get a new name and is now called Herschel, but it was also the start of his career as an internet star.

Courtney was so enamoured with the little dog that she created an Instagram account for him and began sharing photos and videos of him. He quickly started amassing followers and now has over two million. Even Lady Gaga is a fan!
While Herschel's internet fame did take Courtney by surprise at first (he even has his own Wikipedia page), she knew that other people would fall in love with him too. Together, Courtney and Herschel use their popularity on social media to raise money for animal rescue organisations.
