Hank was just a puppy when he was found alone in the woods by a passerby. But instead of running around full of beans as you'd expect from a young dog, he merely sat on his old dog bed. The dog looked so sad while surrounded by old toys and a sealed bag of dog food.
Abandoned and alone
Quickly realising something was very wrong, the person phoned a local animal shelter for help. When shelter staff arrived at the woods, their initial worry was that the dog might be in survival mode and be aggressive towards them. Fortunately, they soon discovered that Hank was an incredibly sweet dog full of love.
They quickly took the dog to the vet, where it was discovered that the poor pup had a broken leg, which he'd been living with untreated for over two weeks. His rescuers realised that he didn't move from his bed in the woods because he was in too much pain.
A bright outlook for Hank
As it was clear that Hank required extensive surgery, he was transferred to a veterinary hospital for surgery and recovery once he gained some weight. In the meantime, he's getting the best medicine of all: plenty of love and cuddles from all the hospital staff.
Since Hank's story was shared on social media, adoption requests for Hank have flooded in. However, it will be a while before Hank's ready to be adopted. But the most important thing is that he's safe now and getting all the love and care he deserves.
