This beautiful boy is Midas, a Podenco Ibicenico who was rescued from a pound in northern Spain.
He had no hope of finding a home where he was, so a kind volunteer took him in and has been caring for him ever since.
We don't know anything about his past, but Midas was absolutely terrified when he first arrived. He was too afraid to even be touched by humans, and it has taken time to show him that not all humans are scary.
Podenco's are often used for hunting in Spain, and many are sadly mistreated. With patience and time, Midas has started to grow in confidence, but he will need a very understanding family, who have experience bringing on a nervous dog.
In return, you will experience the joy of watching this gentle boy come out of his shell, as he learns to fully trust and relax around people.
Midas is very good with other dogs, and we do feel he could share with a well-socialised, confident resident friend. We are looking for a calm, quiet home without children or lots of visitors, due to his nervousness.
Midas will need a very secure, fully fenced garden, and we recommend a gps tracker on his collar, as he may follow a scent and become lost if he isn't kept safe at all times.
Midas desperately needs to find his forever family. He has already had so much uncertainty in his life so far, we with the right support and understanding, we have no doubt he will make a wonderful companion.
He can be adopted in England or Wales (not Scotland as we do not have rescue back up in the area). He will be vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and will travel with a pet passport. RBU provided.
