Meet Henry – The Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Family

DOB: 19 February 2025

Size: Medium (approximately 20kg)

Status: Castrated, vaccinated, pet passport

Location:** Rescue in Ayr Henry is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart.

He's a gentle, affectionate young lad with impeccable manners and a lovely, kind nature. Having previously lived in a home, rescue life has been quite a big change for him, so he can be a little shy and overwhelmed at first. Give him a little time, however, and you'll discover a wonderful companion who simply loves being around people. Henry has been thoroughly enjoying spending time with our volunteers and is growing in confidence every day. He loves a fuss, takes treats beautifully gently, and is a pleasure to spend time with.

 What Henry is Like

Friendly, gentle and affectionate

 House trained

Walks beautifully on a lead

Takes treats gently

Calm and well-mannered

 Not jumpy or boisterous

Loves people and enjoys attention

Great with other dogs Henry has become great friends with his kennel mate, Darci, and we think he would really benefit from living with another friendly, confident dog who could help him continue to build his confidence and show him that the world isn't such a scary place.

Henry's Ideal Home

Henry could happily live with children and has done so previously. However, because he can be a little sensitive to busy environments, we'd love to find him a quieter family home rather than one with lots of hustle and bustle. Calm, dog-savvy children who understand when a dog needs a little space would suit him perfectly.

He has not yet learned reliable recall, so this is something his new family will need to work on.

Like any young dog, he will also benefit from continued socialisation, training, and plenty of positive experiences as he settles into family life. A home with another friendly dog would be wonderful for Henry, although it isn't essential if his family can provide him with lots of companionship, reassurance, and opportunities to build his confidence.

 Why We Love Henry

Henry doesn't need to be the centre of attention—he's simply looking for a family who will love him, be patient with him, and show him all the wonderful things life has to offer.

He's the sort of dog who will quietly become your best friend. Whether it's joining you on woodland walks, curling up beside you after a busy day, or greeting you with his gentle wagging tail, Henry has so much love to give.

All he needs now is a family who can promise him that this time, it's forever.
