DIY: How to make a mobile toy for cats in 15 minutes

If you’re looking for something to spice up your cat’s indoor life, here’s an easy guide on making a DIY mobile toy. They won’t be able to stop playing after you make this!

Often cat owners wonder what the best toys are for their pets. Well the answer is, anything that stimulates their hunting instincts! Cats are hunters at heart, so anything small and fast is sure to get them stalking, running, and pouncing - which to them is all great fun!

That’s why this cat mobile toy is absolutely perfect for your indoor tiger. So if you’re interested, here’s what you need to do:

Homemade cat mobile toy: What you’ll need

Most of the materials you’ll need to make this mobile toy will probably already be in your house. If not, you might want to pop over to a crafts store for a few extra supplies!

  • Cardboard box
  • Pens
  • Cutter and/or scissors
  • Glue
  • Scotch tape
  • Pom poms
  • Coloured string
  • Googly eyes or other stickers
  • Anything else that suits your fancy!

How to make a DIY cat mobile toy

This is a very fun toy to make, so let your imagination run free here! But remember, in the end, this is for your cat’s entertainment! Try to think of which colours they’ll be able to see best and what type of shapes and textures they like the most.

  1. Seal the box with tape
  2. Cut out a rectangular shape on four sides of the box (leaving a 5 cm margin on the sides)
  3. Glue pom poms on the edges
  4. Tie string on the edges
  5. Tie feathers or other fun toys to the pieces of string

Let your imagination run wild here! You know your cat best, so you know what they’ll like most on their mobile toy! Most cats love things that are mobile, because it really triggers their hunting instincts. Give it a go and you’ll see, your cat won’t ever want to stop playing!

⏰ Preparation time: This toy will take 15-30 minutes to make.
