Thanks to Killian’s protection, little Fin stayed safe from an abusive situation.
It all started in 2013, when Benjamin and Hope hired a babysitter for their son Finn. As most parents do, the couple did their research and met several candidates before making their decision. A decision that Benjamin and Hope thought to be the right one... But they couldn’t have been more wrong.
Always trust a dog's behaviour as it says it all
Over several months, everything seemed to be going well between Finn and his babysitter. Not for a second did the parents guess that anything was up. It was entirely due to the intervention of their dog Killian, a black lab shepherd mix, that the truth was revealed.
Around 5 months after the arrival of the babysitter, Killian started to become increasingly nervous around the young woman. Every time she tried to get physically near the child, Killian became defensive and growled at her. Immediately, Hope and Benjamin understood that something was off. Their dog had never behaved like this before, even if he had always been very protective of little Finn. They knew they had to do something, and fast.
A recording telling the truth
To put their minds at ease, Finn’s parents decided to record the babysitter while they were away. To do this, they simply installed a sound recorder underneath the sofa without telling the woman they had their doubts about her.
What they discovered after just one day of recording left them speechless. The babysitter continuously screamed at their son while he was under her care, with a scarily threatening tone to her voice.
Thanks to Killian’s defensive behaviour around the nanny, Finn’s parents were able to react quickly. They took the necessary measures with the babysitter, and their son wasn’t hurt nor left in what seemed to be a very dangerous situation.
