Some dogs can live on the streets for years, barely surviving through harsh winters before they get help. So when an animal rescue heard that a dog was living near a petrol station, they were keen to help as soon as possible.
Homeless and alone
When the rescuer spoke to locals, she learned the dog had been living near the petrol station for a couple of years. Despite being young, it had already had a couple of litters. The dog was surviving by scavenging and approaching passersby for food.
After hearing her story, there was no way the woman would leave the poor pup. She found where the dog was and approached it cautiously, not knowing what its reaction would be. Fortunately, the dog was very happy to make friends with the kind lady. The sweet-natured dog let the woman stroke her and pick her up and seemed to revel in the attention.
Safe and loved at last
The woman took the pup to the vet for a thorough check-up. On the way, the lady decided to call the dog Linda. The vet estimated the dog to be around two years old, and despite having ticks and fleas, the vet found that the dog was in good health.
Linda was taken to a doggy spa to be bathed and groomed to ensure she looked and felt her best. She then went home with her rescuer to spend her first night in a proper bed. It was obvious how much she enjoyed it and, at last, felt safe and cared for.
Linda settled in quickly to her new life, and after her rescuer posted about her online, it wasn’t long before she found a loving forever home.
