So many things can be dangerous to our beloved pets. Even things that don’t appear threatening at all, like this strange brown pile found in the middle of the forest!

Around a month ago, a large storm hit Germany. Baptised ‘Zeynep’, the storm had strong winds that uprooted many trees and sent their leaves and branches flying.

Not so innocent

While the storm thankfully did not cause any casualties, it did have some repercussions. One dog owner took to Facebook to warn others of the danger caused by the storm.

Indeed, the owner came upon a strange brown pile while walking in the forest. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was a processionary moth’s nest blown out of the branches of the trees!

Dangers of processionary moth hairs

While the nest was empty, it was likely to still contain the moths' hairs, which are extremely irritating to both animals and humans. Contact with these hairs can cause itching skin rashes, eye irritations, sore throats, and difficulty breathing.

If you see something like this while walking, make sure your dog doesn’t go anywhere near it!
