Laura the piglet didn’t have the most auspicious start to life, born to a breeder mother and destined for the slaughterhouse, it seemed that her life would be short and unpleasant.
But her luck improved when she was rescued by a group of animal rights activists and brought to Santuario Igualdad Interespecie – an interspecies animal sanctuary.
A tale of two animals
Marina, the kitten, was a sickly kitty and was rejected by her mother. Thankfully, a kind rescuer found her and brought her to the interspecies shelter in time for her to make a full recovery.
This, as you might have guessed, is where the unlikely duo met and formed an almost instantaneous bond.
A calming presence
When Laura arrived, she was so nervous that she was shaking, but Marina’s arrival a few days later seemed to calm her and now the pair are as thick as thieves.
The shelter has shared pictures and videos of the inseparable pair who rarely go anywhere without each other. They play together, groom one another and have plenty of very cosy-looking naps.
