Tiny kitten Starlight was found by kind passers-by in a cardboard box in the streets of Melbourne, Australia. She had clearly been abandoned at only a few days of age.

She was weak, covered in fleas, and badly sunburnt from the scorching sun she had sat in for who knows how long.

An experienced kitten fosterer named Amber decided to take Starlight in.

A rough start

When she saw the kitten's condition, her hopes were not high, but she knew she would do everything she could to help her.

Amber took care of the little kitten day and night, rubbing her down with aloe vera and feeding her with a pipette. But just as Starlight was gaining strength, she became infected with parvovirus from another kitten that came into Amber’s care, and later suffered from feline herpes as well.

Grateful

But against all odds, the kitten fought through each and every one of the obstacles that life threw at her. And incredibly, she made it through the other side with flying colours.

Starlight inevitably became a foster fail – Amber was much too enamoured with her to ever let her go. Today, Starlight helps her foster mum care for her new foster kittens. As if she wanted to alleviate her mum’s responsibilities, to thank her for saving her life. What an incredible kitty!
