A living nightmare
Their coats were so severely matted and compacted that most of their bodies were completely hidden. Fortunately, the caretaker did the right thing and contacted the charity for help.
Once on the scene, rescuers discovered the dogs were suffering from infections, open wounds, and fleas. But that was not all. In Stimpy's case, maggots had managed to burrow under his heavily matted fur and were eating away at his skin.
Left behind to suffer
Rescuers learned that the poor dogs had been abandoned by the building's previous manager, who had fallen seriously ill before leaving the property. Ren and Stimpy were rushed to a veterinary clinic immediately.
However, their medical care comes at a high cost for the charity. Consequently, NYC Second Chance Rescue has launched an appeal on social media to fund their treatment and support their recovery.
