Saved from a horrific trade, this 7-year-old Husky teaches us all a lesson in bravery

By Ludivine Mazzotti

At the end of August, rescuers from the 8 Below Husky Rescue shelter wanted to share the story of a brave dog named Cora.

It is fair to say that Cora has shown incredible resilience.

Cora is a seven-year-old Husky who was rescued from a slaughterhouse.

A tragic situation

When rescuers saved her from this horrific environment, her health was extremely worrying. She was first taken in by the Harbin SHS Animal Rescue charity in China, where she was finally safe. Afterwards, the rescuers at 8 Below Husky Rescue organised her transfer to the UK.

Cora received the urgent veterinary care she desperately needed. Today, she is missing an entire ear, part of her other ear, and part of one of her front legs.

Finding comfort

The top priority for Cora's rescuers is to help her build up enough strength to move around comfortably on three legs. They are monitoring her progress closely and taking things one step at a time, letting her set the pace.

Despite everything she has been through, Cora is full of joy and energy. She loves going outside, walking, exploring her surroundings, and making the most of every single moment. Her resilience has deeply impressed her rescuers. Today, she simply wants to live, be loved, go for walks, and enjoy life's simple pleasures. We hope she gets everything she dreams of very soon!
