Fortunately, he was taken in by rescuers at the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Buster was already a senior dog when he arrived at the shelter. Sadly, like many older dogs in rescue centres, his chances of finding a family quickly were slim.
An adorable companion
Yet, Buster had everything it takes to bring pure joy to a family. He is a very sweet, affectionate dog, and as if to show his endless capacity for love, he has a heart-shaped marking on his forehead.
Poor Buster has clearly had a tough life, as his body is covered in scars, but no one knows what he has been through.
Love from afar
To help him find a home, the rescue team filmed a short video introducing Buster. The magic of social media did the rest. The video, posted on TikTok, caught the eye of a woman living in New York. She was instantly touched by Buster's gentle eyes and sweet nature. Without a second thought, she booked a flight and travelled around 1,000 miles to West Palm Beach, with just one goal: to meet Buster before it was too late.
She arrived first thing in the morning, ready for when the shelter doors opened. It was love at first sight in person too, and she decided to adopt Buster then and there. For the long journey home, his new mum rented a car and made sure the sweet boy was comfortable in the back, snuggled up in cosy blankets. Buster is now living his best life in New York, surrounded by his loving new family. What a wonderful rescue story!
