A heartbreaking discovery
As she got closer, Alex (not her real name) heard high-pitched, continuous whimpering. The noise was coming from a small, empty tobacco tin discarded inside the bag. With utmost care, she opened it and discovered a heartbreaking scene: tiny puppies, just a few hours old, with their umbilical cords still attached.
“They were screaming and whimpering,” she explained. Faced with such distress, there was not a second to lose. Her calm reaction and quick thinking proved crucial for what happened next.
An amazing wave of solidarity
Alex immediately rushed the newborns to a vet. The puppies, American Staffordshire Terrier crossbreeds, were extremely fragile. A real race against time had begun to save them.
Once back home, with the help of her family, she placed the puppies under heat lamps and began bottle-feeding them every three hours, day and night. Thanks to this incredible effort and round-the-clock care, three of the little creatures gained strength and showed encouraging signs.
Justice takes its course
Alongside the rescue, Alex contacted the police. The investigation was remarkably fast. Thanks to CCTV footage, the vehicle of the person suspected of abandoning them was identified, and the suspect was arrested the very next day.
When confronted with the evidence, he eventually confessed. He will face charges in court in early 2027, a procedure in which the Fondation 30 Millions d’Amis has filed a civil lawsuit to ensure such actions do not go unpunished.
A bright future ahead
Today, the three survivors are out of danger and are experiencing the warmth of a loving home. Under the watchful and protective eye of Alex's German Shepherd, they are growing up in complete safety.
Their future looks bright: Alex has decided to keep one of the puppies, and the other two have already found their forever homes, ready to welcome them and give them all the love they deserve.
