The two rescuers had found a small stray dog in a shocking state in the Los Angeles area, USA.
Desperate to escape the blistering heat, the little dog had hidden under cars parked on the street.
Pounds of matted fur
The rescuers were shocked to see the thick layer of matted fur covering his body, which had accumulated over the years. The matts were so severe that the poor dog could barely walk. In fact, he was trapped by the weight of his own coat.
Fortunately, the two rescuers managed to coax him out from under the car and get him to safety. They put him in their air-conditioned vehicle before taking him to Suzette Hall's rescue shelter.
Once at the shelter, the rescue team discovered that the pup was microchipped. His name was actually Lucky. Despite making numerous calls to his family, no one answered or came to claim him. So, the rescuers decided to give him a fresh start with a new name: Jin.
A spectacular transformation
At the veterinary clinic, Jin was put under anaesthetic. The vets needed several hours of intensive grooming to help him. When they finally removed the massive weight of fur enveloping him, they were stunned. Jin was completely unrecognisable!
The vets believe the sweet dog is around 11 years old. Jin has been placed in a foster home and is slowly starting to rebuild his confidence. Today, this lovely boy is waiting for his forever home, where he will finally get the love and security he deserves after so many years of suffering.
