To them, the pup didn't fit the typical profile of a dog found in a rescue centre.
Penny is a 4-month-old puppy, a cross between a Husky and a Golden Retriever.
An unusual puppy
For the rescuers, Penny is just the kind of puppy many families look for, and they aren't used to seeing dogs like her behind kennel bars.
She is a mix of two very popular breeds, and being a young puppy makes her even more of a rarity in rescue centres.
Dogs waiting for a family
However, as the rescuers pointed out in a video posted on their social media on 7th April, rescue centres have dogs to suit every kind of family and lifestyle. There's a common misconception that rescue dogs are there "for a reason", when in reality, they often end up in shelters through no fault of their own.
Penny was surrendered by her previous family who, sadly, could no longer care for her. In the video, she can be seen sitting calmly in her kennel, looking at the camera with a gaze that touched the hearts of many on Instagram. It wasn't long before Penny was adopted by her new family. We wish her all the best for the future.
