Two people leave a mysterious bag outside a shelter: rescuers tremble as they open it

By Ludivine Mazzotti

Alexandra Sava is the founder of the Sava's Safe Haven shelter in Romania.

At the end of August, Alexandra was cleaning the kennels when she noticed the dogs outside the shelter getting agitated.

She went to take a look and spotted a car parking outside the building.

A heartbreaking abandonment

The two people who got out of the vehicle told Alexandra they wanted to hand over a dog. The pet belonged to a recently deceased family member, and they couldn't keep her.

When Alexandra walked over to the car, she made a shocking discovery. The dog was trapped inside a tight, sealed white fabric bag, and you could clearly see the outline of her body through the material.

Opening the bag

Alexandra rushed to rescue the dog. She immediately made a small tear in the fabric so the poor thing could breathe. The rescuer then took her to a secure room to open the bag completely, fearing the terrified dog might bolt in panic.

Inside, the rescue team found a tiny, completely disoriented dog. She was curled up and absolutely terrified, despite the volunteers' best efforts to soothe her. The sweet nine-year-old dog was named Lica by the rescuers.

A fresh start

Happily, a medical check-up revealed that Lica is in generally good health with no major issues. However, she will still need to be spayed and vaccinated.

For now, Lica is being kept separate from the other dogs so she can gently adjust to her new surroundings and regain her sense of security. We wish this lovely little creature all the peace and comfort she deserves, and hope she finds her forever home very soon.

Lica is finally free
