A mysterious discovery

Their hike was going well until Cassius suddenly stopped dead in the snow. The pooch simply refused to move.

Chris called him, and like a good dog, Cassius returned to his owner for a moment before heading straight back to the snowy spot. The dog was clearly trying to tell his human that he had made a discovery worthy of his attention. Chris finally decided to investigate what had so captivated Cassius, and it was then that he spotted a clump of matted black fur.

On closer inspection, he realised it was an old Shih Tzu, curled up in a ball. His body was almost frozen solid, and the situation was critical. Thankfully, Chris could see the little dog was still breathing. He carefully picked him up, wrapped him in a T-shirt to try and warm him up, and called the police for help.

An emotional reunion

Chris was put in touch with the local animal shelter, who were able to identify the little dog. After scanning his microchip, the staff uncovered his story. His name was Guizmo, he was 10 years old, and his family had been searching tirelessly for him for two weeks.

Guizmo was a true fighter: having already beaten cancer and lost a leg, he had now managed to survive alone in the snow for two weeks. He was finally reunited with his family, safe and sound. His family and the rescue team are incredibly grateful to Chris and Cassius, especially to the heroic dog whose instincts led them to Guizmo. Well done, Cassius, you're a true hero!
