What was meant to be a relaxing day in nature soon turned into a dramatic rescue operation.
The drama began when the woman's dog tried to cross a stream.
Swept away by the current
Within seconds, the strong current swept the poor pup over the edge of the waterfall, leaving him stranded 80 feet below. His owner did not hesitate for a second and leapt in to save him.
Her brave move allowed her to reach her dog, but the pair ended up trapped on a ledge, unable to climb back up on their own. Thankfully, the emergency services were alerted quickly, and several fire crews rushed to the scene.
An impressive rescue
When they arrived, rescuers made contact with the owner, who had managed to stay calm despite the terrifying situation. While some teams secured the river below to prevent any further accidents, a rescuer abseiled down the 80-foot cliff face to reach the woman and her dog.
The rescue teams then set up a double-tension rope system to haul the rescuer, the woman, and her dog back up to the top of the cliff. Both owner and pet were brought back safely to dry land.
The operation ended up involving several fire departments, specialist rescue teams, forest rangers, and local police. Thankfully, this is one story with a very happy ending!
