A heartbreaking discovery

Jaime Simpson, who lives in Arizona, USA, spotted a familiar figure. As reported by The Dodo, she recognised a dog belonging to a family in her neighbourhood.

The animal had no collar on, and his owners were nowhere to be seen. At first, she thought the dog had simply run off.

Sadly, after speaking with her neighbours, she discovered the real reason the dog was wandering near her home.

His family had been deported from the country a short time earlier by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). With no one left to care for him, the Husky had been forced to survive alone in the harsh desert environment for several days.

A second chance

Realising what had happened, Jaime immediately contacted animal control services. The dog was taken to an animal shelter, where he was cared for.

The kind-hearted woman visited him regularly, sensing that the animal was deeply affected by his abandonment.

She eventually adopted the Husky, named Eclipse, convinced he deserved a second chance.

Today, Eclipse is living a happy life with his new foster family, who have promised to look after him "for as long as it takes". However, Simpson still hopes that one day, if his original family returns, they can be reunited.
