Dave was brought back to the Animal in Need rescue centre less than 24 hours after being adopted. He had been given up by his previous owner due to their ill health.
After such an ordeal, the rescue centre thought they had found the perfect family for Dave. Sadly, their hopes were dashed when he was returned just a few hours later. The reason? The dog's behaviour.
A devastating return
”*We were so thrilled when he was chosen, and we really hoped this would be his forever home,*” said Sam Fisher, an animal welfare assistant at the rescue centre. “*When he came back, I was absolutely gutted for him (and, to be honest, a little angry).*”
Four different homes
When he was returned, the staff explained that Dave can sometimes test the boundaries. This wasn't the first time the dog had been brought back to the centre. In total, Dave has lived in four different homes, which may explain some of the insecurity in his behaviour.
Upon his return, Dave was visibly unsettled by the sudden change in his environment. His carers have been working to help him settle back in by re-establishing his daily routines.
After his story was shared on social media, several potential adopters have come forward with applications.
The rescue centre is now carefully reviewing the applications to find the perfect family to cherish their special boy and help him overcome years of trauma.
