Five poor puppies had been abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy motorway in Ireland.
This happened about a year ago, but sadly, stories like this are all too common.
A fight for life
The little dogs were oblivious to the danger of the traffic just a few feet away as they fought for their lives.
The passer-by immediately contacted the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA).
Rescuers arrived quickly at the scene. They took the puppies back to the ISPCA, where they were given a good bath and treated for parasites.
Veterinary check-ups showed that the puppies were in relatively good health. Once they had fully recovered, the pups were able to explore the shelter and have fun with their favourite toys!
A happy ending
The little dogs truly appreciated the attention and care from the volunteers. It wasn't long before each puppy found their perfect family.
They are now living their best lives in their new, loving homes. They are cherished and safe, without a care in the world!
