In the United States, Donna Lochmann is the head of rescue operations for the charity Stray Rescue of St. Louis. At the start of 2026, several states in the country were facing a drastic drop in temperatures.
Volunteers were therefore mobilised to help the stray animals struggling to survive the freezing conditions.
That's when a member of the public reported seeing a dog in an abandoned house. When the charity's team arrived, they spotted a little head peeking through a window. They had to act fast, as a snowstorm was about to hit.
A race against time
It took the volunteers several minutes to build a connection with the stray dog, whom they named Snow Maggedon.
With patience and a lead, they managed to coax him out of the dilapidated building and into safety.
Once safely inside the vehicle, the dog immediately relaxed. He curled up in a warm blanket and fell into a deep sleep, a clear sign that his winter ordeal was finally over.
A new beginning
A few days after his rescue, Snow was taken in by a foster family. They were shocked to see so much gentleness coming from this once-lonely dog.
Today, Snow Maggedon is enjoying the warmth of his foster family and hopes to find his forever home soon.
