A heartwarming story

Earlier this year, the rescuers shared the story of a dog named Kano.

The dog had been in the shelter's care for four months after being transferred from the DeKalb County pound. At the time, his name was Skillet.

When he arrived at the LifeLine Animal Project shelter, the rescuers shared his profile online. That's when they achieved something extraordinary... They found his family!

A woman contacted them to say that her son had raised Kano from when he was a puppy of about six weeks old. But when her son was deployed on a military tour, the family had to rehome the dog.

A mother's intuition

A few weeks later, the mother had a hunch to search for Kano online. That's when she came across the post from LifeLine Animal Project and discovered he had been found as a stray.

She immediately sent an email and stopped by the following evening on her way home from work. Kano was overjoyed when he saw his family arrive at the shelter! The woman had since bought a house with a large garden, so now Kano can stretch his legs and enjoy all his home comforts.

Her son is due back from his deployment soon and will finally be reunited with Kano. For now, he talks to him on FaceTime, and Kano is always delighted to see him!
