A New Year's Eve rescue
The team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis in the USA will remember this call for a very long time. They were celebrating New Year's Eve when a phone call brought the festivities to an abrupt end.
As reported by The Dodo, the police had found a grey and white Pit Bull lying motionless on the road, seemingly dead.
The poor animal was covered in blood and was completely still. The police rushed him to a veterinary hospital.
A heartwarming reunion
At the hospital, vets discovered that the dog had been shot multiple times. Miraculously, the dog, now named Wallace, survived.
A volunteer named Julia stayed by his side as he recovered from the anaesthesia. Four days after his rescue, the officers who found him came to visit.
"He gave them each about a million grateful kisses and thanked them for saving him and bringing him here, to Stray Rescue," Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) wrote on Facebook. "Our hearts literally exploded with joy!"
Fortunately, Wallace's story was quickly shared on social media. It wasn't long before a family came forward, offering him a forever home.
Although Wallace still needed medical care and wasn't ready to go home just yet, he didn't hesitate to cuddle with his future family. Despite being so badly neglected by people in the past, Wallace showed he held no grudges.
