The poor dog was freezing and very frightened.
Aaron immediately set to work gaining her trust so he could approach her.
A last-minute rescue
He rescued her and gave her all the care she needed. However, despite his affection for the dog, Aaron couldn't adopt her himself. So, he looked after the dog, whom he named Sadie, and eventually took her to a rescue centre in Arizona. She was adopted later in 2014.
Over the years, Aaron often thought about Sadie. He adopted another dog named Bodie in 2019, but he always wondered what had become of her. To his astonishment, the universe sent him an answer on 7th January 2026 – twelve years to the day after he had rescued her!
A fateful phone call
Aaron received a call from The Animal Foundation rescue centre in Las Vegas, telling him they had found “his” dog, Sadie. Aaron was in complete shock. In 12 years, her previous family had never updated her microchip details!
The fact that the poor dog was found as a stray, with no collar or tag, completely broke Aaron's heart. He didn't hesitate for a second. He booked a flight and rushed to the rescue centre to get Sadie.
A second rescue
Aaron decided to adopt Sadie and give her the best possible life for her remaining years. His parents also offered to help look after her, as they already care for Bodie when he is away.
People online were naturally captivated by the story of Aaron's second rescue of Sadie. Comments included: “You were there at the beginning, and now at the end… beautiful.” and “Aww, she's been trying to get back to you for 11 years!” We are so relieved that Sadie found her way back to Aaron, and we wish them many happy years together!
