Three kittens, just a few days old, were found inside a bin bag in the city of Reims.
The sealed bag had been thrown into a rubbish bin.
A heartless act
It was a passer-by who reported the horrific discovery. The rescuers shared a post on their Facebook account to tell the sad story of the tiny kittens.
The rescue centre described the act as utterly despicable. This wasn't just a case of abandonment; as they stated in their post, it was "a slow death sentence". The team are devastated at the thought of the mother cat who had her three little ones torn away from her, and who may well have another litter soon...
Prevention and hope for the future
In their post, the rescuers stressed that there are solutions to prevent such suffering. These include neutering your pets and contacting a rescue centre or charity for help. They also warned against adopting pets through private arrangements, as these are often unregulated. There are no guarantees, no follow-up checks, and no obligation to neuter the animals.
One of the three kittens is in a very weak condition, and the rescuers are hoping with all their hearts that he will pull through. The kittens have been named Rudolph, Comet, and Thunder. We are so relieved they were saved in time and wish them all the best for the future.
