Heartbreaking discovery in a frozen Canadian park

On 30th November, a Golden Retriever named Raiya was abandoned in a freezing cold dog park in Canada.

The poor dog was discovered by a passer-by.

When Raiya was found, she was wearing a little jumper and boots. Next to her were epilepsy medications and a note explaining the situation.

A sad fate

The note left with the Golden Retriever's belongings explained that her owner was leaving the country and would not be coming back for her. The person who found Raiya rushed her to an emergency vet, and she was later transferred to the care of the Pause4Change Rescue Foundation.

Vets examined Raiya and found that the poor girl suffers from epilepsy. They also suspect she may have hip dysplasia, a condition that develops as a dog grows and results in a loose or poorly fitting hip joint.

A plea for help

Her rescuers immediately posted a plea for help on Facebook to cover her medical expenses, estimated at $2,000. While the local community has rallied to support her, the rescue still needs further donations to give her the best possible care.

The rescue team has since posted another appeal on Facebook. We are sending all our best wishes to Raiya and hope she finds a loving forever home very soon.
