When Autumn Fettig found out that Walmart and the animal welfare charity Best Friends were organising a special adoption day, she decided to pop along after her shift at the police station.
Adopting a dog wasn't on her agenda, but her eyes soon fell on Cookie Dough. The 8-month-old puppy immediately melted the officer's heart.
An instant connection
"I couldn't let Cookie Dough go back to the shelter without a family," said Fettig. Back at her home, the puppy settled into his new surroundings straight away.
A happy new home
"He loves to play, have cuddles, collect all the toys and be constantly on top of people."
Today, Cookie Dough is living a peaceful life with his human.
