Stratford Animal Control is a rescue centre located in Connecticut, USA.

The rescue team organised a photoshoot with Santa Claus to help showcase the animals in their care. The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness for all the animals spending the festive season, and indeed the whole year, waiting in their kennels for a loving home.

A heartbreaking photoshoot

On 7th December, the rescue centre shared the heartbreaking story of Walter, a 2-year-old "gentle giant," as they described him in their Facebook post. The poor dog was found tied up outside the centre, all alone, with a note explaining he had been found abandoned in a local dog park.

While Christmas photoshoots are usually a chance to capture moments of joy, this wasn't the case for Walter. Instead, the photographer captured his profound sadness and despair. You can see the sorrow reflected in his eyes in the photo.

A gentle soul awaits

However, the rescue team was keen to point out that Walter is a real sweetheart. He loves cuddles and is, in their words, a "real teddy bear." He is simply desperate to find his forever family.

In the comments section of the post, people shared their emotions: "Poor little thing! I hope he finds a loving family soon." Another wrote: "He looks so sad, I hope he finds a loving forever home." We're all hoping Walter finds his forever human soon, someone who can bring that happy sparkle back to his eyes!
