In early 2024, Takis received a call from a friend very early one morning about an abandoned puppy by the roadside. He went to the location immediately.
He never expected to find the tiny pup in such a terrible state.
A severely swollen paw
The little female pup was tiny, but she had the biggest paw he had ever seen. Takis was in shock. He estimated she was only two weeks old, yet her paw was completely swollen. The rescuer didn't hesitate for a moment. He took her straight to the vet, who considered amputating it.
But Takis argued against it. He pleaded the puppy's case, asking if they could give her a little more time to see if treatment would help her enormous paw to heal.
A little miracle
Takis named the little puppy Zena. He was delighted to see that she was eating and drinking well. Slowly but surely, she began to heal. Every day, the swelling in Zena's paw went down a little. Takis was so glad he had insisted on waiting to see if the treatment would work.
Eventually, Zena's paw returned to a completely normal size. No one would have guessed what she had been through just a few weeks earlier! To his delight, Takis could watch her running and playing just like any other dog.
And there's more good news: Zena has been adopted by a family in France! She now enjoys cuddles with her family and has fun every day with her canine brother, as you can see in the posts below.
