As she was running, her eye was caught by a bright pink spot in the bushes.
It turned out to be a little dog wearing a pink coat.
A timid soul
The jogger tried to get closer, but the little dog was too scared and immediately ran away. So, she called the GoodBoy Dog Recovery organisation for help. The rescuers arrived on the scene as quickly as they could.
After searching for a while, they spotted a pink shape sitting on a black bin bag deep in the bushes. The little dog was terrified of the rescuers and fled even deeper into the woods.
But the rescuers didn't give up. They set up humane traps and spent the night in a car near the woods. In the early morning, they were delighted to find the dog was safe inside one of the traps.
A new beginning
As the team left the wooded area, they found an abandoned crate and a bag of kibble, confirming their fears that the little dog had been dumped. A visit to the vet revealed she was only a six-week-old puppy. The poor little thing weighed just over 1.1 pounds and was suffering from mange.
The rescuers named her Sweet Pea. Once in her foster home, the puppy began to relax. Her foster family was only meant to look after her temporarily, but their daughter fell completely in love and decided to adopt her. Sweet Pea is now living happily with her canine sister, Olive, and brother, Archie. We wish her all the best for the future!
