A few years ago, a man from Missouri in the US decided to adopt a lifelong companion from a local rescue centre.
He looked through the list of dogs available for adoption and was immediately drawn to one named Momo. He quickly went to collect her, and it was love at first sight between the old dog and her new owner.
A shocking discovery
A few years into their happy life together, Momo's owner got a nasty shock during a visit to the vet. He had taken her for a simple X-ray because she was starting to have trouble getting around. A silence fell over the consulting room as the vet explained that Momo had likely endured a very difficult and violent past. The X-ray suggested she had probably been used for mass breeding. But that wasn't all. The dog, who also suffered from arthritis and hip dysplasia, was hiding another secret.
A terrible secret
