For several days, a stray dog had been desperately searching for comfort on the streets of a Californian neighbourhood. It was a driver, alerted by an anonymous note, who finally discovered the incredible truth. Under his car, a female dog was shivering from the cold, curled up on her old bed.
The message, handwritten and taped to the windscreen, simply said: "You have a dog under your car. October 23rd, 7 pm. Check before you leave."
Intrigued, the driver bent down... and came face to face with a female Pit Bull cross, who was frozen in fear and unable to move.
"She was waiting for someone who would never return"
Volunteer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, described the scene on Facebook: "She was hiding under that car, waiting for someone who would never return."
The local residents couldn't get her to come out. Despite their calls and the food they left beside her, the dog remained hidden under the chassis, refusing to leave what seemed to be her last safe place.
The next day, an even sadder sight awaited them: the dog's little bed had disappeared. "Someone had stolen her bed, the only comfort she had left," said Suzette Hall. "She was wandering the neighbourhood in a panic, going from door to door trying to find it."
A rescue filled with love
Fortunately, several residents had already grown fond of this sweet-natured dog. Among them was a woman named Fatima, who spent her evening searching for her. She was the one who finally found her, hiding under a nearby house, shivering and hungry.
Suzette Hall was alerted immediately and went to the scene with a trap. "I set the trap, and this sweet dog came out of her hiding place and went straight in. She was starving," the volunteer explained. The dog was taken to the vet, who confirmed she was in good health despite her fear and exhaustion. It was there that they discovered a touching detail: a small heart-shaped mark on her coat, right at the base of her tail. And so, she was named Amour.
Since her rescue, Amour has slowly started to relax. She is now discovering the comfort of a proper bed, gentle strokes, and regular meals. While she waits to find her forever family, she is receiving all the love and affection she deserves at Suzette Hall's rescue centre.
