The poor dog had been abandoned alone in the middle of a field, with only a 20-pound bag of dog food beside him.
A kind-hearted passer-by spotted him.
A bit wary
She managed to take him home for a few hours, but she couldn't keep him as her landlord doesn't allow pets. She posted several missing dog notices to find the pup's family, but no one responded to the adverts...
That's when Villalobos Rescue Center stepped in to take care of Rocco. The poor pup is very wary of humans, which suggests he was mistreated in the past. However, he behaves very well with other dogs.
In foster care
Thanks to the rescue's network in Michigan, Rocco has been placed with an experienced foster family. He has an appointment scheduled with the vet for some health checks and his neutering.
Once the vet gives the all-clear, the rescuers will look for a permanent home for him. His ideal home would be without children, preferably quiet to suit his somewhat fearful personality. The rescuers believe that with time and patience, Rocco will eventually open up completely. We wish him courage and all the best for the future.
