Frankie is a cat who has experienced a great deal, much more than the Ark for Animals volunteers expected when he came into their care at the beginning of this year.
When he arrived at the Ark for Animals foundation earlier this year, he was in a dire condition. Emaciated and suffering from a deteriorating eye, he was just skin and bones.
New family for Frankie
Despite his rough start, he quickly bonded with his foster carers, showing a desperate need for affection.
After three months of care, Frankie was adopted by Mrs Rose and Mr Samuel, who gave him the love and attention he had longed for. But just days after settling into his new home, Mrs Rose noticed unusual lumps under his skin. Concerned, she immediately took him to the vet.
Horrifying discovery
The vet’s X-ray revealed a horrifying discovery: Frankie was riddled with shotgun pellets. A total of 25 metal pellets were found throughout his body, including in his paws, torso, and head. The eye injury that had puzzled his new owners was also explained – Frankie had lost it due to being shot, not illness.
It’s clear that Frankie had been used for target practice, though there may be more pellets still lodged in his body. Frankie is now scheduled for surgery to remove the pellets, as leaving them could pose serious health risks. Despite the trauma he has endured, he will need to endure further medical procedures.
The Ark for Animals foundation is investigating the brutal attack, hoping to find those responsible.
