What would you do if you were awakened in the middle of the night by a loud bang? For one woman, her morning began in huge panic, and it only got worse.
Instead of finding a burglar, she discovers a scene in her house that would leave even professional crime scene cleaners speechless.
The culprit: Cat Mimi
TikTok user @hs.living’s cat, Mimi, apparently discovered her creative side that morning, unfortunately, on a light-coloured carpet.
A few days earlier, the owner had painted the attic wall black and placed the paint tin (supposedly securely sealed) at the top of the stairs. A huge mistake, as it turns out.
At 5 am, the loud noise erupts. The kitten had pushed the paint tin down the stairs, and the lid popped off at the bottom.
The black paint then poured like lava over the newly laid cream-coloured carpet on the stairs and walls. And what does the ‘perpetrator’ Mimi do next? She remains frozen at the top of the stairs – either guilt-ridden or perhaps just satisfied with her work.
8.8 million viewers are beside themselves
The TikTok video of the morning paint disaster went viral, with over 8.8 million people viewing the clip. Comments ranged from sympathy to dry humour: “God forbid a cat should be into abstract art,” writes one user. Another advises: “I would just move out and never come back.”
In the follow-up video, the cat mum describes her reaction: pure despair. She called her husband early in the morning while trudging through the paint chaos in tears. His response? “The carpet is replaceable – Mimi isn’t.”
Despite everything, Mimi remained paint-free and unharmed, a small miracle. While the owner googled carpet cleaners and contemplated separation (from the flooring, not Mimi), TikTok commenters agreed: This cat is a little Picasso – and extremely cute too.
