Two EE contractors have been suspended after being caught on a doorbell camera mishandling a cat during a door-to-door sales visit in Weston-super-Mare.

The footage, widely shared on social media, shows a man in an EE-branded uniform picking up a white cat, reportedly named Iceberg, by the scruff of its neck and placing it on a wheelie bin.

The man later lifts the cat again and walks off down the street with a female colleague after receiving no answer at the property.

Suspended during investigation

The pair were working for the third-party firm Money Expert, which EE confirmed had been contracted to promote offers in the area.

Both individuals have since been suspended while an investigation is carried out.

An EE spokesperson stated: “We do not condone the mistreatment of animals and are treating this matter very seriously.” Money Expert is said to be cooperating fully with the inquiry.

Cat left shaken

A local resident who shared the video said Iceberg has been visibly shaken since the incident: “It’s heartbreaking, he loves attention and is usually so friendly. Hopefully, he’ll return to his usual self in time.”

EE and Money Expert are continuing to investigate the incident and have assured the public that appropriate action will be taken.

Quite right, too.
