In early 2025, Suzette Hall, who heads an animal rescue organisation, was contacted to help a dog found in a California shopping centre car park.
The poor dog was in a dreadful state. He had dirty, matted fur and struggled to stand up.
Community support emerges
Named Oreo, the animal proved very difficult to win over. As reported by The Dodo website, Suzanne discovered that people had been chasing him around the car park.
Suzette asked a shopping centre security guard for help, but he declined her request.
Safe at last
With the help of volunteers, the woman returned one afternoon during Oreo's nap time. Two volunteers quietly approached the dog with a blanket to catch him and bring him to safety.
After a visit to the vet, Oreo received a makeover. After removing much of his fur, the dog was unrecognisable.
Currently in foster care, Oreo is rediscovering the joy of life whilst waiting to be adopted.
Good luck, Oreo!
